| Aerospace School Gets New Commandant |
|
2nd Lt Gregory Kuhn
“CFSAS is a bit like the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company, you may know them better under the name 3M,” said 17 Wing Commander, Col Yvan Boilard. ‘CFSAS doesn’t make pilots, air combat systems officers or air traffic controllers: they make them better!” Established in 1987, CFSAS provides post-graduate courses in specialized fields such as Aerospace Systems, Basic and Advanced Electronic Warfare, and Space Operations. It also conducts the Air Force officer professional development program; instructing more than 800 officers and non-commissioned member annually. “Too often it feels like electronic warfare and space operations are stuck in the 1900’s; it’s time to modernize our programs into the 21st century. I look forward to this challenge,” said LCol Guillette. LCol Guillette comes to CFSAS as School Commandant after serving briefly as Chief of Airlift Plans at the Combined Air and Space Operations Centre (CAOC) - 1 Canadian Air Division. He relieves LCol Theo Heuthorst, who assumed command of both 1 Canadian Forces Flying Training School (1 CFFTS) and CFSAS in June 2009. |
